Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban (Alfonso Cuaron, 2004, UK)
The magical world of Harry Potter returned to our screens in 2004 and brought us Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I had always been a huge fan of Harry Potter, having read all of the books, but this particular film will always be classed as one of my favourite films of all time. In this film Cuaron definitely created a darker feel to the film which was done fantastically – I myself was absolutely terrified! In the film the main cast learn that a dangerous criminal and Voldemort’s trusted aide Sirius Black has escaped from the Azkaban prison and wants to kill Harry to avenge the Dark Lord. In addition, creatures called Dementors are brought in to guard the gates of Hogwarts and they happen to have a horrendous effect on Harry Potter. The ending for me is the best part! Not to give too much away but little does Harry Potter know, many holes in his past will be filled up and he will have a clearer vision of what happens in the future.. All in all this film is a 10/10 for me through the clever storyline and amazing graphics I just can’t fault.
